What is METAbolt

METAbolt is an open source, non graphical metaverse (virtual world) text client

Think of it as a "messenger type application" with lots of built in virtual world features so that one cannot only carry out communications but also be able to perform most of the important tasks required in a virtual world.

METAbolt is light weight and cross grid. With a single click, it is possible to run multiple instances. METAbolt is primarily developed for Second Life but it can also be used on any grid based on OpenSIM.

 
More control, less computing resources

METAbolt is ideal if:

• the SL viewer is not allowed at your work place

• you have a low powered computer that has difficulty running the SL viewer

• you have a low speed internet connection e.g. dial up/ISDN

• you need to run multiple alts at the same time for security, group management, modelling etc functions

• you can't or don't want to run the SL viewer all the time but need the ability to stay online for communications or other reasons

• you have a metered monthly bandwidth and need to control it
