When doing an inventory search, Metabolt just locks up forever (or seems like it) and I get the blue spinning wheel of death out of Vista. Everything having to do with Metabolt becomes unresponsive during the search.
The inventory was developed over a year ago and I am aware it needs to be looked at. It is on our list of things to do. Pls be patient and bare with us on this one.

Sometimes I can close these windows without a problem, but sometimes they won't go away and I have to force quit Metabolt. Most of the time I have no clue what is causing these windows to pop up. Once in awhile I could add some info to the window for a bug report or whatever but usually things lock up at those times.
Unless you can provide the exception dumps that are in those windows which popup I won't be able to do anything because there is no way I can determine what they are or what is causing them :( When they appear save them as a text file by clicking on the Save button on the exception window and then either email it to me or post the contents here in the forums.

The taskbar notification blinking is really annoying. It blinks too fast and every time someone posts something in group chat. Can we make this notification more discriminatory or maybe shut it off all together?
This can be made to work a lot better. I will do something about it in the next release.

The typing area on bothhe chat and IM windows record what was typed in so that the user can go back and use 1 or more without having to type it in again. This is a valuable and useful feature used by most. If the mouse/caret is inside the chat area and you use your mouse scroll then as you have stated the captured list of what was typed will be scrolled. To avoid this you need to click into the chat display area above and then use the mouse scroll or use the scrollbars of the chat area. This is a Windows feature where the scroll will only work in the area of the screen that has focus (caret position). You need to ckick out to carry the focus to the place you need.

I am assuming you mean a sound is made when you "receive" group notices and not when you "send out", because METAbolt does not have a sound feature when a group notice is sent out by the user. Can you pls clarify this. If you refering to notices received then you can switch the sound off from the Application/Preferences menu and then the General/Sounds tab on the screen which will appear.

I don't understand what you are refering to! Is it the list of group notices in the Group Information window or the group notices that popup upon login i.e. those you were sent while you were offline?
