At some time in the future, will we be able to see display names in our chat so that we can address people using them?

This has been in the corner of my mind since it was introduced by Linden. However in terms of time for development, application size and bandwidth usage it is a costly feature. It requires extra calls to SL and handling/association of an additional list of names on top of the existing UUID and avatar names lists. I am not going to say yes or no at this stage as I need more time to decide.

You do know (in the modern layout) if you click on a name in chat it will display the profile which has the display name right?
